Happy Canada Day!

Being a proud Canadian - born and raised in BC - I love Canada Day.  I love seeing everyone dressed in red and white and all the flags waving outside houses and on cars. I love how you know that everyone is pretty much feeling the same way on this day...

And this year brought new questions from my girls like why this day is special and how is old is Canada this year? She's 146 in case you were wondering...and yes...she's a girl. Just because.

Every year we head down to Steveston for the annual Salmon Festival parade. This year we were asked to participate IN the parade with my oldest daughter's gymnastics school. She was over the moon at the prospect of getting to be part of the actual parade but I don't think she realized that being part of it would mean she would actually miss it.  Lesson learned on that one.

This Canada Day we were in the middle of a heat wave - a nice change from the dreary Junuary weather we had been enduring.  It was hot, sticky and a little uncomfortable but I will happily take that over grey skies any day.

our little Canadian sweethearts...

Handing out flyers to the crowd...

She much preferred the view from up here...

Both girls were exhausted as we trekked back to the car.  Thank goodness for strong daddy arms.
the lemonade was good...but when did prices jump to $1 for a cup? Quite the racket...

After heading home for a rest and some time to cool down we headed over to a friends house for drinks (for the grownups), ice cream (for the kids) and sparklers (for everyone).

Happy Birthday Canada - you just keep getting better...
